Let’s be Frank – Ange no longer favourite to start next season as Spurs boss
Thomas Frank is the new favourite to be Tottenham Hotspur manager on the first day of next season having been backed from 5/1 into 11/10 since the Europa League Cup final.
bet365’s Steve Freeth said :”It was hard not to make Postecoglou favourite after he’d just delivered Spurs’ first major trophy in 17 years.
“In reality, Ange has been friendless since Wednesday night and it appears we may have overreacted by going 1/3 after such an emotional night in Bilbao.
“We’ve seen some eye-catching support for Thomas Frank after the final, with the Dane going from 5/1 into 3/1. With punters then availing themselves of the 7/4, we had no choice but to put him at the top of the betting.”
bet365 have also seen support for Roberto de Zerbi with the former Brighton manager now trading at 8/1 from 28/1
To be Tottenham manager on 16th August (bet365):
- Thomas Frank - 1/2
- Ange Postecoglou - 11/4
- Roberto de Zerbi - 8/1
- Francesco Farioli - 10/1
- Michael Carrick - 12/1
- Marco Silva - 12/1
- Andoni Iraola - 16/1
- Scott Parker - 16/1
- Mauricio Pochettino - 25/1
- Xavi - 25/1
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou silenced his critics on Wednesday night by delivering the club's first trophy in 17 years by beating Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final in Bilbao.
Postecoglou delivered on his promise of "always" winning a trophy in his second season in charge by ending Tottenham's 17-year wait for silverware.
The Australian had been under considerable pressure for his job for the vast majority of the season with the club down at the wrong end of the Premier League table, currently sat in 17th place, just one place above the relegation zone.
Spurs have lost 21 of their Premier League fixtures so far ahead of Sunday's final game of the season, and are guaranteed for their lowest league finish since they were last in 47 years in their promotion winning season from the second tier.
