Crystal Palace win FA Cup LIVE REACTION: Eagles hang on to beat Man City and claim first ever major trophy

Crystal Palace won their first ever major trophy on Saturday afternoon as they beat Manchester City 1-0 to lift the FA Cup.

Eberechi Eze’s first-half goal was enough to see the Eagles overcome Pep Guardiola’s side and end their 120-year major title drought.

It was a final that didn’t lack action as Dean Henderson put in a heroic performance to prevent Man City from scoring an equaliser.

Henderson denied Omar Marmoush from the penalty spot and made countless other saves following some VAR controversy.

But that will all be forgotten for Palace, who, under manager Oliver Glasner, have written their names in the club’s history books.

You can recap all of the action in our live blog below…

  • That's all from us!

Crystal Palace's party is going to go on into the night!

The streets of London will be filled with Eagles fans, that's for sure!

But that's all from us for our coverage of the FA Cup final.

It's Palace's day and one they'll never ever forget.

You can read more on their first-ever trophy below...

  • Not as planned

Erling Haaland lost more than just the FA Cup today...

The Man City striker contributed €5,000 towards the fans' pre-match tifo for the departing Kevin De Bruyne.

It was De Bruyne's last final for the club before leaving.

The incredible display read: 'Maybe you're the same as me, we won the lot with KDB'.

But things didn't go as planned for Haaland and De Bruyne, with the Belgian not going on to depart with a trophy.

  • Blunt

That's how you can describe Pep Guardiola's post-match chat...

The Man City boss didn't seem in the mood for any discussion over the game and VAR controversy.

On Dean Henderson avoiding a red card for a handball, Guardiola simply said: "I'm not the referee."

Then on the game, the City manager added: "We didn't score so congratulations to Crystal Palace for the victory.

"Today, we were more aggressive. If you're not going to score goals, you're not going to win."

He continued: "They performed really well, much better than last season against Man United.

    "Football sometimes is like this."

  • Beaming with pride

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has been out on the Wembley pitch to celebrate with the FA Cup trophy.

"Unbelievable," Parish said on BBC One. "We owe them [Crystal Palace fans] a trophy and we got them one today.

"This is for everyone that has sent me a bit of encouragement when it has been going badly, all the people who don't just have a go at you, all the people who believe - this is for them.

"I am so proud. The team, the fans, I honestly believed that we would win. That's what Oliver's [Glasner] done. He made us all believe. You could see it at the end.

"It is great for the cup, come on!"

  • 'I couldn't breathe!'

Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze has reacted to winning the FA Cup.

"This is special, I don't even know what to say," Eze told BBC Sport. "Thank God, only God could do this.

"Facing the team that's been the best in the world for years, to show that type of spirit and energy... only God."

On his winning goal, he added: "I couldn't breathe!

"City keep the ball so well, you have to work so hard to get anything from them. When you get in their box you have to make the chance count.

"I've come a long way. To be in this position now - it's hard to use the right words here."

  • Trophy-winning bonus

On top of the FA Cup win, Crystal Palace achieve another feat.

The Eagles will be playing in Europe next season.

FA Cup winners always claim a place in the Europa League and Oliver Glasner's side will be part of it.

That is an incredible achievement for the club.

It'll be their first-ever major European competition.

  • Champions!

What a moment for Crystal Palace.

Their first-ever major trophy lift. 120 years in the making.

Marc Guehi and Joel Ward do the honours together.

It's a dream achieved for everyone on that balcony.

  • 'I dedicate that win to him'

Dean Henderson has dedicated winning the FA Cup with Crystal Palace to his late father.

"Incredible," he said. "We had a feeling it would be our day today.

"The manager got a game plan and we executed it. We deserve this so much."

Henderson then emotionally added: "I lost my dad at the start of the season, but he was with me today.

"He was with me every kick of the game.

"I dedicate that win to him."

  • Nightmare ending

There's no fairytale for Kevin De Bruyne...

He ends his time at Man City without winning a trophy.

Pep Guardiola's side have missed out on silverware after a dismal year that was only kept positive due to this FA Cup run.

It's defeat at Wembley though, and a painful one at that.

They'll be desperate to bounce back next season.

  • What dreams are made of

Look what this means to the Crystal Palace players.

They will all now go down in history at the club, becoming the first squad ever to win a major trophy.

The Eagles fought so hard to keep Manchester City out and Eberechi Eze's goal was the difference in the end.

No Palace player or fan will ever forget this day at Wembley.

  • Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

90+9' Crystal Palace have surely done it now.

They've defended brilliantly, clearing every ball into the box and keeping Man City out all afternoon.

Multiple crosses have gone straight out of play and that has relieved pressure on the Palace defence.

    They're seconds away at Wembley...

  • Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

90+7' A BIG PENALTY SHOUT FOR MAN CITY!

Claudio Echeverri strikes and it looks to have maybe been blocked by a Crystal Palace hand in the box.

The stand erupt and appeal for a spot-kick...

But VAR takes a quick look and nothing is given.

Palace are three minutes away from winning the FA Cup.

  • Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

    90+5' Eberechi Eze, that's class.

The Crystal Palace star neatly works his way out from the back and plays it out wide to relieve pressure.

Claudio Echeverri charges into him in desperation and is cautioned as we enter the final five minutes.

Can Palace hold on and achieve their dreams?

  • CHANCE! Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

90+3' It's just relentless from Man City!

Kevin De Bruyne sends a volley inches wide of the post!

His dream send-off was almost there, but he misses!

The Crystal Palace fans have not stopped chanting all game and they're hauling their side over the line now.

  • Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

90' We're into 10 MINUTES of added time.

Wow, as if we needed any more tension.

That's not what Crystal Palace would have wanted at all.

They're camped in and having to defend against attack after attack, as Man City fight for their lives here.

  • Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

87' Crystal Palace are getting closer and closer.

They're only a matter of minutes away from history.

If they hang on, they'll win their first-ever trophy and get their hands on the FA Cup at Wembley.

Manchester City are trying their hardest to spoil the party!

Stuart Pearce live on talkSPORT: "Palace's gameplan now will be don't give the ball away cheaply.

"And if you're going to have an effort, make sure it doesn't stay on the pitch so City have to go and get it!"

  • Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

84' OH WOW, WHAT A MOMENT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN!

On his Man City debut, Claudio Echeverri almost equalised as he finds space inside the box...

But Dean Henderson springs to save from close range!

Echeverri is left with his hands on his head and the youngster can't believe that he hasn't scored.

    Henderson saves Crystal Palace again!

  • Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

81' Time is ticking for Man City.

Erling Haaland is the latest player to miss the target with a header from a Phil Foden corner.

The nerves are paramount in the Crystal Palace end.

They're nine minutes away from glory at Wembley...

  • Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

78' Eddie Nketiah comes on for Crystal Palace.

His aim will be to hold things up and put the Man City defence under pressure as they look to build up.

Palace have 12 more minutes to hold on.

They're going to come under so much pressure now.

  • Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

75' Into the final 15 minutes we go.

And Manchester City are getting closer to scoring!

Nico O'Reilly hesitates in the box and shoots too late, allowing a defender to get in a block from close range.

Omar Marmoush then fires wide via a deflection.

Pep Guardiola reacts to those chances by bringing on Phil Foden and Claudio Echeverri.

This is Echeverri's Man City debut...no pressure!

  • Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

72' That would have been a dream for Man City!

Kevin De Bruyne has time on the edge of the box to set himself and look to find the back of the net.

If he scored, it'd be the perfect way for De Bruyne to keep his hopes of a final trophy at the club alive...

But Adam Wharton throws himself in the way and pulls off a superb block that may have denied an equaliser.

Stuart Pearce live on talkSPORT: "Bravery doesn't cover it.

"He's thrown himself at the ball, catching him right on the back of the head."

  • Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

69' Man City have lost some momentum here.

They're looking tired and Crystal Palace have been coping well with their attacks in the last few minutes.

The Eagles are just over 20 minutes away from their first-ever major trophy as a club.

Can you imagine the tension in the stands?

  • Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

    66' Nico O'Reilly receives a yellow card.

He doesn't complain after bringing down Daniel Munoz.

That's the first booking of the FA Cup final so far.

We're not heading into the final stages, can Crystal Palace hang on here? Or will Man City find a way through?

  • Crystal Palace 1-0 Man City

63' It's kicked off in the aftermath of the disallowed goal...

But it's nothing to do with the VAR decision.

Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi was substituted moments after and he was walked off by medical staff.

Then, as they exited the pitch, a member of Palace's staff squared up to a Man City staff member, getting right in each other's faces.

They get separated by other members of the backroom staff.

It's unclear what caused the scuffle, but that was rare to see!
