Borussia Dortmund brought down the curtain on Kylian Mbappe's European career with Paris Saint-Germain to reach the Champions League final for the first time since 2013.

The German side - fifth in the Bundesliga - stunned the French champions 1-0 in Paris to book their place in the final, completing a 2-0 aggregate victory.

Mbappe, who will leave PSG in the summer and is fully expected to join Real Madrid, had been hoping to bow out by firing the club to Champions League glory for the first time in their history.

But the French superstar was shut out by a brilliantly organised Dortmund, who fully deserved their victory over two legs.

Mats Hummels was the match-winner on Tuesday night for Edin Terzic's side, heading home in the second half to put Dortmund out of sight.

Paris Saint-Germain pushed forward late in the game and rattled the woodwork twice in the final minutes - taking their tally to six times they they hit the goalframe over the two legs - a hugely frustrating end to the game.

Not only that, but PSG had 44 shots on goal over the two games, with just eight of those shots being on target.

Mbappe was largely ineffective as he failed to add to his 48 Champions League goals, and was given a marking of 2/10 by L'Equipe for his performance in the second leg.

The 25-year-old will depart Paris having lifted six league titles, but will be disappointed at having failed to be the man to bring them Euro glory.

Despite their vast spending under Qatari ownership, PSG's wait for Champions League glory extends to another year.

It's delight thought for on-loan Manchester United player Jadon Sancho, although he failed to impress like he did in the first leg.

Danny Mills told talkSPORT: "Jadon Sancho, for all the hype in the first leg, I think has been very ordinary in the second."

But he will care little about that, having more than played his part to reach a European final having been ostracised by Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Dortmund will face either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich - who clash on Wednesday at the Bernabue with the tie evenly poised at 2-2 - for the chance to become Europe's top club.

With Wembley Stadium the venue, it's going to be spectacular seeing the Yellow wall in full view in London.
