Borussia Dortmund have called for an apology after Jadon Sancho's performance against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

The Manchester United loanee, who was banished from the Red Devils first-team by Erik ten Hag, delivered a sensational display as the German giants won the first-leg of the Champions League semi-final 1-0.

An electric Sancho successfully completed 12 dribbles, the most of any player in a Champions League semi-final since Lionel Messi in 2008.

Reacting to the England international's heroics, Dortmund tweeted: "You all owe him an apology, we were ALWAYS familiar with his game."

The England international looked completely reborn after a rotten two-and-a-half year spell at Old Trafford.

Sancho was heavily criticised for his form at United following a £73million move from Dortmund, before a public falling out with manager Ten Hag following a defeat to Arsenal in September 2023.

After months in exile for refusing to apologise, the 24-year-old was sent back to the Bundesliga club on loan in January.

His return to form has coincided with another underwhelming season for Ten Hag at United.

But rather than wishing Sancho was performing at this level for the Red Devils, some supporters saw a silver lining to his recent rebirth in Germany.

Fans think the Englishman is either increasing his transfer value ahead of a summer exit, or rediscovering his confidence before returning to Old Trafford.

One wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Man United fans wishing Sancho fails is like wishing your car fails a safety test before you put it on the market for sale. His success increases his value and attracts further buyers other than just Dortmund."

Another said: "Sancho played well again by all accounts, just shows that United shirt weighs heavy on many. Hopefully pushing his value up before we move him on."

Mark Goldbridge labels Jadon Sancho as a Manchester United flop suggesting he 'completely and utterly failed' in the Premier League

A third put: "It either means we get a rejuvenated player coming back to the team, or a better value for him in the transfer market…"
