Harry Kane's search for a first club trophy may continue into next season - but he is set to add a prestigious personal award to his collection.

The 30-year-old has been banging the goals in for fun at Bayern Munich since joining from Tottenham last summer in a deal worth more than £100million.

His double in the 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday has brought his tally to 35 Bundesliga goals for the season.

He now leads the European Golden Boot race - nine strikes clear of nearest rival Kylian Mbappe, who has 26 goals for Paris Saint-Germain this term.

Stuttgart marksman Serhou Giurassy then sits in third spot with 25 goals, but it seems unlikely either he or Mbappe will be able to catch Kane.

Kane is set to follow Lionel Messi and Crisitiano Ronaldo in winning the trophy, with the pair boasting ten awards between them.

Messi scooped the honour - given to the player with the most goals across Europe for the season - six times during his spell at Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo won the award on four occasions, with his first coming at Manchester United, before three further successes coming with Real Madrid.

Spurs legend Kane is also poised to become the first Englishman to win the European Golden Boot since Kevin Phillips surprisingly won it 24 years ago.

Phillips fired in 30 Premier League goals in the 1999/2000 campaign to become the first Englishman to ever win the accolade.

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland is the current European Golden Boot holder having bagged 36 goals last term.

But with 21 strikes in the English top flight so far, he seems certain to miss out on defending his award.

Kane will now be turning his attention to facing Real Madrid in Tuesday's Champions League semi-final first leg at the Allianz Arena - live on talkSPORT.

He is just one strike shy of Mbappe's eight goals in the Champions League this season.

And the duo could meet in the final, with PSG to face Borussia Dortmund in the other last-four tie.

The Champions League is Kane's last opportunity to win a trophy for Bayern this season with Bayer Leverkusen winning the Bundesliga, while Bayern were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal (German FA Cup), by a German third tier side. They also lost the German Super Cup final on Kane's debut for the club.
