Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has warned Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho about the trappings of success.

Garnacho has been elevated to one of Erik ten Hag's key players this season - and even scored on of the greatest ever Premier League goals this season.

He was rewarded last year with a contract that is believed to be worth in excess of £50,000-a-week.

The 19-year-old has been a rare bright spot in an otherwise underwhelming campaign.

This includes their FA Cup semi-final collapse at Wembley on Sunday to Coventry, before scraping through on penalties.

The Red Devils were 3-0 with 20 minutes to go before conceding three to send the match to extra-time, where the Sky Blues scored in the last minute only for VAR to rule it out.

And speaking on the White & Jordan Show on talkSPORT, Souness picked out Garnacho and used one his teammates as a warning about the letting success change your mindset.

"Garnacho, for me, is an exceptionally talented young man but I worry for him, call me old-fashioned or a dinosaur," the Liverpool legend said on air.

"He's got two earrings in the warm-up on the pitch and he's a young boy just learning the game.

"It's an age-old thing. It's not a new thing, by the way, at Man United.

"Man United have always been the most glamorous club in this country, they are a bit like Bayern Munich in Germany, they are called FC Hollywood.

"I think you could use the same term to talk about Man United, they get too much too soon at Manchester United, that is my view.

"I've been a player and a manager in English football for a very long time.

"When we were the dominant team at Liverpool, they were still bigger stars than we were.

"They get so much attention, Man United players, and I think it is to their detriment. Especially in the modern game with the kind of rewards these boys get.

Graeme Souness thinks Erik ten Hag will still be sacked by Manchester United, even if they beat rivals Manchester City to lift FA Cup

"They get far too much too soon, I think [Marcus] Rashford is a case in point at 25.

"He should just now be approaching his best years, it looks like his best years are gone."

Garnacho has been a key player under Erik ten Hag this season after breaking into the first-team last year.

The 19-year-old has made 43 appearances for the Red Devils so far this campaign with nine goals and four assists in all competitions.

He found himself in hot water with Ten Hag, though, after 'liking' posts on social media criticising his manager.

However, the Argentine apologised for his actions and the matter has since been resolved.

Garnacho was not at fault in the Wembley semi-final collapse though, having been substituted after 66 minutes with the scoreline at 3-0 to Manchester United.
